I'm a Professor of Business Analytics and Machine Learning at Hult International Business School and the founder of Immaculate Conception Ventures, an angel investment firm. Here's what has my attention right now.

Teaching algorithmic trading

This summer I'm teaching a new two-week elective called Algorithmic Trading. About 35 students signed up, and we meet almost every day. The idea I keep coming back to with beginners is simple: instead of buying a stock because you heard about the company on the news or liked its products, you look at the numbers and write programs that learn from the data what actually moves a price.

Writing about AI and the job market

A lot of my recent writing circles the same question: what AI is doing to work and the economy. I've covered tech companies posting all-time-high stock prices while they keep laying people off, a job market that has gone roughly twelve months without real growth, and the shortages and price increases the AI boom is creating. It's the thread that connects most of what I'm reading and thinking about these days.

Updating my model portfolio

I also keep a model portfolio and post regular updates on it. The version I write about is split across global stocks, gold or bitcoin, and cash, and I revisit it whenever the market gives me a reason to. It's less about predictions and more about thinking out loud, in public, about how I'd structure things.

On the lighter side

Away from the classroom and the markets, I compete as a master's long jumper and currently rank in the top 25 in the USA for my age group. When I need to clear my head, I head to the Boston Athenaeum, a beautiful old library in the heart of the city and my favorite spot to find a little inspiration.
