Tariffs Hit
What happened about 12 months ago? Tariffs!
Since the highest tariffs in 90 years were instituted by the administration, the sad job market hasn’t produced jobs. This is consistent with what we’ve seen in America’s trade war miscalculation.
The Response
The administration, in its infinite wisdom, dealt with this situation in the only way it knows how: by firing the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics which produces the unemployment report.
But this wasn’t enough to turn the sad job market around.
Things Get Worse
And with oil now at the highest levels in over two years, things are likely to get worse. The ongoing challenges mirror what we’re seeing in the AI employment crisis as well.
The Takeaway
The job market is sad. No one can get job.
When tariffs stall job creation and leadership responds by firing statisticians rather than addressing root causes, we’re left with a market that can’t recover.
Watch the data closely and prepare accordingly.
